Deep Gap is most notably known for its great American folk artist, Arthel “Doc” Watson. Although he lost his sight before his second birthday, he was one of the most influential musicians of his time. Deep Gap is close to a larger town (Boone) and also far away enough to feel slower — what locals call “mountain time.”
